AI agents set to accelerate server CPU demand

Server CPU shipments are projected to increase 31% YoY in 2026, according to TrendForce’s latest AI server industry research. Demand has grown steadily since the second half of 2025 as AI server providers actively introduce AI agent applications. The forecast points to continued growth in processor shipments as providers bring these applications into their server offerings.

In 2027, shipments are expected to rise by more than 40% YoY, driven by continued growth in AI inference demand and rising adoption of agentic AI services. The projected acceleration could reshape a server CPU market traditionally dominated by x86 processors. TrendForce identifies inference and agentic services as the key demand drivers behind the stronger shipment outlook, linking the market’s expansion to the growing use of these AI applications.
