TSMC targets April 2027 completion for A14 fab

·1 min read

TSMC’s 1.4 nm fab for its A14 node is under construction and is expected to be completed by April 2027, according to Taiwan’s Commercial Times. The facility is part of Taichung Phase II in the expansion area of the Central Taiwan Science Park, and the schedule would position TSMC to scale the A14 node and begin trial production late next year. Mass production is planned for the middle of 2028.

The project is reportedly progressing faster than TSMC initially expected, aided by AI and virtual reality tools. AI is being used for image recognition and smart inspection, while VR simulations support training for high-altitude work and potential hazard scenarios. The combined use of faster training and construction support is helping TSMC move the fab ahead of internal timelines, with A14 expected to advance from zero to initial trial production by the end of 2027.
