NVIDIA RTX PRO 5500 listed above flagship pricing

·1 min read

SHI Government Solutions has listed a PNY-built NVIDIA RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell workstation card at a higher price than the flagship RTX PRO 6000 on NVIDIA’s US marketplace. Even the retailer’s discounted price exceeds the flagship’s, despite the cheaper flagship offering more CUDA cores and memory. NVIDIA has not announced official pricing since adding the RTX PRO 5500 to its lineup in September, leaving the origin of the listed MSRP unclear.

Chinese demand could be contributing to the premium. According to Reuters, ByteDance, Alibaba, and Tencent have ordered over 3 million RTX PRO 5500 cards, while total orders from China reportedly exceed 6 million. A source said NVIDIA can produce no more than 3 million of the cards in 2027, suggesting demand could substantially outstrip available supply.

With the B300 barred from China and the H200 reviewed case by case, the RTX PRO 5500 remains among the strongest NVIDIA GPUs Chinese companies can buy. Each card also uses 28 GDDR7 modules amid rising memory prices, adding another potential source of pricing pressure.
