Kioxia and Sandisk plan Japan memory investments through 2032
Kioxia Corporation and Sandisk Corporation announced anticipated investments in Japan through 2032, describing the plan as totaling approximately 5 trillion yen and contingent upon government support. The companies said the spending is intended to strengthen their long-running partnership in NAND flash memory and support demand from an AI and data-driven world.
The investments will focus on continued infrastructure buildout at the Yokkaichi Plant and the Kitakami Plant, along with related infrastructure and technology. Kioxia and Sandisk said they are each committed to multi-year bit growth and stable supply as demand for flash memory technology continues to rise.
The partnership has invested approximately 9 trillion yen in Japan over the past 25 years and has contributed to decades of NAND flash memory development. The latest plan is positioned to extend the joint venture’s ability to deliver advanced flash memory at scale and with supply stability.
