Salesforce adds agent validation to business analyst requirements
Salesforce’s Summer ’26 Business Analyst certification maintenance adds competencies in automation selection, reasoning-trace review and data grounding for Agentforce. Completing the module is required to keep the credential current. The changes extend the analyst’s responsibilities beyond requirements and documentation to validating generated behavior, while retaining stakeholder management, elicitation and process analysis.
Automation selection uses a framework called orchestration density, which assesses execution paths, goal complexity and the mix of structured and unstructured inputs. Predictable, rule-based tasks belong in Flow or Apex, while more complex workflows can require Agentforce with Agent Script. During user acceptance testing, analysts must also review reasoning traces to check how an agent reached its decision. A correct outcome can conceal faulty reasoning, so acceptance criteria need to test the basis for decisions as well as results.
Grounding adds another validation responsibility: confirming that business information is accurate, current and accessible to the agent. Analysts need to understand these dependencies without configuring retrieval infrastructure. Generated requirements also need scrutiny for missing access rules, unjustified automation choices and acceptance criteria that merely repeat the requested behavior. Salesforce retained the Business Analyst credential’s name and retired AI Associate in February 2026, shifting recognition toward Agentblazer Status alongside maintained certification and practical validation experience.
