Nvidia enters laptop processor market with RTX Spark
The first Windows laptops built around Nvidia’s RTX Spark chip went on sale on Friday, October 16, 2026, marking the company’s entry into a processor market long dominated by Intel and AMD. The chip combines an Arm-based processor with Nvidia graphics and targets on-device AI, creative applications and games. Available processor options include 18-core or 20-core configurations, paired with fast integrated memory.
Launch models include Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Ultra, starting at $2,599.99, alongside laptops from ASUS, Dell, Lenovo and MSI. The most expensive configurations cost up to about $7,000, with pricing and availability varying by region. HP’s models are scheduled for November 4, while Acer and GIGABYTE are expected to introduce laptops later. No lower-priced RTX Spark models have been announced.
Microsoft worked with Nvidia on the platform, with launch software support covering local AI agents, creative applications and major games. Arm processors can offer energy-efficiency benefits, but some older Windows programs require adaptation or a translation layer. Independent performance and battery-life reviews, software compatibility and demand for premium laptops will be important indicators as Nvidia competes with established suppliers offering dedicated AI features.
