Minisforum MS-S1 MAX-P495 targets large local AI workloads
Minisforum lists its MS-S1 MAX-P495 workstation at $7,399.00 for the 192GB RAM + 2TB SSD configuration, with estimated shipping in Mid November. Powered by AMD Ryzen™ AI Max+ PRO 495, the system targets local language models, multimodal applications, video editing and rendering. It combines 16 cores, 32 threads and Radeon™ 8065S Graphics.
Minisforum specifies up to 131 TOPS of total AI compute, including up to 55 TOPS from the NPU. The workstation supports up to 192GB of unified memory, with up to 160GB allocatable as VRAM. Its shared CPU-GPU memory pool is designed to reduce data movement during demanding workloads. Cooling combines a copper heat spreader, heat pipes, turbine fans and phase-change material, with rated operation at 120W sustained load and 160W peak power.
Connectivity includes dual 10GbE networking and USB4 V2, alongside storage expansion and a full-length PCIe x16 slot. A slide-out board tray supports maintenance and upgrades. The chassis accommodates desktop use or 2U rack deployment, and multiple systems can be linked into distributed clusters. Minisforum says a four-unit cluster ran the DeepSeek-R1 671B Q4 model in testing.
