New York signs IBM deal for AI and hybrid cloud tools

The New York State Office of Information Technology Services has signed an enterprise agreement with IBM to provide AI and hybrid cloud tools to several state agencies. The agreement, signed in this year’s second quarter, is expected to deliver $6 million in taxpayer savings over the next three years.

The deal gives participating agencies access to IBM’s hybrid cloud and AI software portfolio, with tools intended to automate business processes, modernize applications and strengthen cybersecurity. State officials said the agreement is also meant to support AI-powered productivity, intelligent workflows, application development, hybrid cloud and multi-cloud management, cybersecurity, data protection and data management.

The technology agency said it has negotiated 14 enterprise-level agreements that have generated $58 million in annual taxpayer savings. ITS serves more than 50 state agencies and entities and provides tools to more than 130,000 state employees.
