Nvidia rejects espionage allegations involving Jensen Huang

·1 min read

Nvidia dismissed allegations involving CEO Jensen Huang and Alice Huang, an executive at Singapore-based data center company Megaspeed. According to The New York Times, American intelligence agencies discovered that Alice Huang funneled information to Beijing while developing a close relationship with Nvidia’s chief. Nvidia said diversion allegations involving the regional cloud provider had been investigated and debunked last year.

Citing anonymous sources, the Times said American officials questioned whether Alice Huang could obtain information about Nvidia through those ties. Nvidia described the interactions as routine customer meetings and said regional cloud customers receive ordinary business information, not sensitive trade secrets or information relevant to national security. The company said it regularly receives government updates about entities of concern and acts accordingly.

President Trump was briefed on the intelligence but took no further action, according to the Times, which attributed his hesitation to concerns about Nvidia’s chip sales and U.S. trade relations with China. Companies associated with Alice Huang have continued buying Nvidia chips, anonymous sources said. The allegations come amid restrictions on advanced U.S. chip exports to China and Beijing’s push for technological self-reliance.
