AMD forecasts first quarterly revenue lead over Intel
AMD expects fourth-quarter revenue of approximately $17 billion, plus or minus 3%, putting it on course to surpass Intel’s quarterly sales for the first time. Intel forecasts revenue of $15 billion to $16 billion amid weakening PC demand and manufacturing capacity constraints. AMD’s projected lead would be approximately $1.5 billion at the midpoint of both forecasts.
AMD reported record third-quarter revenue of $13.377 billion, with net income rising by 95% to $2.43 billion. Data Center revenue reached $8.55 billion, up 97% year-over-year and accounting for 64% of total sales. Growth reflected demand for Epyc processors and the launch of Instinct MI455X accelerators powering Helios systems. Anthropic, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure are already running workloads on their initial Helios deployments.
The company expects server CPU revenue to double in 2027, while AI accelerator and rack revenue will more than double. Data Center is projected to contribute over 80% of company sales, underscoring AMD’s increasing reliance on infrastructure spending.
Consumer-facing operations remain under pressure. Client and Gaming revenue fell 8% year-over-year to $3.722 billion, with weaker console chip purchases and Radeon GPU demand weighing on gaming. AMD expects the combined business to contract by more than 20% sequentially in Q4 2026 as higher memory prices weaken PC demand. Embedded revenue rose 29% to $1.11 billion, supported by aerospace, defense, automotive, communications and industrial customers.
