Overdrive storefront surfaces for jailbroken PS5 consoles
Overdrive, a new app circulating on X, is being presented as a free storefront for jailbroken PS5 consoles. A clip posted on October 11 by Edigax shows an interface resembling the PlayStation Store, with games and DLC listed without prices and with download sizes and review scores instead. Battlefield 6 and Forza Horizon 5 appear among the reported listings, but the app’s developer, file sources and reliability remain unclear.
Early impressions are uneven, including one Reddit user calling Overdrive “very poorly made.” A separate project, Orbit Store, is also available as an open-source beta from developer saawant12, offering a similar storefront with 147 games linked from Archive.org while stating that it does not host files directly.
The apps follow Relapse, a public jailbreak for PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles running firmware 7.00 through 13.60. The jailbreak has helped spur new homebrew activity, including PS2 disc loading and Halo 2 reportedly running at 30 FPS through an Xbox emulator. Sony has responded with firmware 14.00, outside Relapse’s range, and the October 1 update (14.10), which added more security fixes. Without an official downgrade path, updating currently removes jailbreak access.
