Relapse jailbreak reaches most PS5 consoles

·1 min read

Relapse, a newly released PlayStation 5 jailbreak, supports firmware versions from 7.00 through 13.60 and covers both the standard PS5 and the PS5 Pro. The release leaves nearly every console potentially exploitable unless it received a system update within the last week.

The jailbreak is notable because it overlaps with Marvel’s Wolverine, a recent game that requires firmware 13.40, while patch 1.001.005 needs 13.60. A console on 13.60 can remain exploitable while running the game and at least some updates, though the latest PSN download might require firmware 14.00.

Relapse combines a browser exploit with a kernel exploit to gain full read-write access to core system memory, according to its GitHub repository. That access enables additional payloads such as etaHEN, making the release especially relevant to researchers and PC emulation developers tracking newer PS5 software.
