TSMC plans bigger 2 nm production ramp
TSMC is expanding manufacturing capacity for its N2 node as demand continues to outpace supply, according to UDN. The company is targeting about 120,000 wafers per month by the end of 2026 for 2 nm production, a 20% increase from an early August target of 100,000 wafers per month. The larger plan points to strong customer interest in the latest process technology.
Early adoption of N2 also appears stronger than the prior leading-edge generation, with TSMC confirming the node has four times the number of tape-outs compared with its 3 nm N3 node. At the end of the second quarter of 2026, N2 represented only 3% of TSMC revenue, compared with 30% for the 3 nm node and 33% for the 5 nm node. That mix is expected to shift more toward N2 by the end of Q3, though official figures have not yet been released.
