YouTube Shorts adds Veo 2 for AI video clips
YouTube Shorts is integrating Veo 2, Google DeepMind’s newest video mode, to let creators generate AI video clips and add them directly to short-form posts. The feature will become part of Dream Screen, the Shorts tool that already supports AI-generated backgrounds.
Creators can use text prompts to produce footage for a scene, build a new visual setting, or match a specific narrative need. YouTube said Veo 2 better understands real-world physics and human movement, which should help produce more detailed and accurate clips. The tool is also designed to support requests tied to a particular style, lens, or cinematic effect.
AI-generated videos made with the feature will include SynthID watermarks and clear labels to help viewers identify synthetic content. The feature has launched for users in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
