South Korea and NVIDIA deepen AI ties at San Francisco summit

South Korean President Jae Myung Lee and senior business and research leaders met with NVIDIA and ecosystem partners at the AI Summit in San Francisco to advance Korea’s push to become a global center for AI innovation. The discussions build on NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang’s visit to Korea last month and focus on expanding the country’s AI infrastructure, research capacity and technical expertise.

NVIDIA and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology announced a joint AI research lab at the KAIST Kim Jaechul Graduate School of AI in Seoul. The lab will focus on agentic AI for South Korea and is the first joint AI lab between a Korean university and any global technology company. The collaboration combines NVIDIA full-stack AI expertise, NVIDIA Nemotron open models and NVIDIA AI Cloud partner computing with KAIST researchers.

Korean technology leaders also visited NVIDIA’s Santa Clara campus, including Samsung Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong, Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chairman and CEO Euisun Chung, and NAVER founder and Chairman Lee Hae-jin. Huang also met with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and teams from SK hynix, SK Telecom and NVIDIA, following June announcements on memory codevelopment and AI infrastructure for physical AI, robotics and related fields.
