OpenAI launches ChatGPT Work for enterprise users

OpenAI unveiled ChatGPT Work, an AI agent designed to help professionals create documents, presentations and websites using advanced coding capabilities without needing programming expertise. The tool combines ChatGPT with OpenAI’s coding assistant Codex, enabling users to complete more complex workplace tasks through simple instructions.

ChatGPT Work is powered by GPT-5.6, OpenAI’s latest model, which was introduced the same day. The product targets enterprise users and competes with Anthropic’s Claude Cowork, an AI agent launched earlier this year that can independently plan and execute complex tasks.

OpenAI said affordability was a major focus, introducing three versions of GPT-5.6 so customers can choose between different levels of performance and cost. Product manager Ty Geri said the model’s coding capabilities can be applied across industries, while analyst Max Weinbach said the smallest version performs many tasks at a level similar to the largest model while costing roughly one-fifth as much.

The rollout begins immediately on web and mobile for Pro, Enterprise and Edu subscribers, with access expanding to Plus and Business users in the coming days. OpenAI also introduced a new desktop application for ChatGPT and a hosted websites feature for building and sharing sites through ChatGPT Work.
