NVIDIA seeks Wall Street backing for AI infrastructure funding
NVIDIA is reportedly working with a group of Wall Street firms on a major funding package for AI infrastructure, according to Reuters, after the Financial Times first reported the development. The group includes Apollo Global, Blackstone, BlackRock’s Global Infrastructure Partners, Brookfield Asset Management, Goldman Sachs, and KKR. NVIDIA shares fell over 3% following the report.
The planned financing points to the growing capital demands behind AI data centers and related infrastructure. NVIDIA tapped the debt market in June with a bond issuance, its first since 2021, as large semiconductor and infrastructure companies post record revenue while seeking more capital for future projects.
Other chip-sector financing and revenue developments also underscored the scale of demand. Intel announced an underwritten public offering of common stock to help fund its foundry expansion. TSMC reported higher July revenue, up 5.6% from June and 44.7% year over year, with the increase attributed to stronger customer commitments and pricing while available wafer capacity remained essentially fully sold.
NVIDIA has also been linked to financing discussions with OpenAI, including reported support for a planned data center campus in southern Ohio and separate talks tied to chip purchases.
