NVIDIA says DLSS 5 now runs across RTX 50-series cards

NVIDIA has released first-party performance figures for DLSS 5, its neural rendering feature set to arrive September 3 in NBA 2K27. The company says the model is now five times faster than when it was first shown at GTC in March, when it required two RTX 5090 GPUs just to run. DLSS 5 now works on a single card across the RTX 50-series lineup, from the RTX 5060 up to the RTX 5090.

The gains mark a notable shift in just 6 months, but the feature is still expected to carry a significant performance cost compared with native rendering. In NBA 2K27 at 4K with the Ultra preset, ray tracing, and Multi Frame Generation, NVIDIA’s figures show the RTX 5090 reaching roughly 370 FPS with DLSS 5 enabled, while the RTX 5080 lands around 233 FPS.

At 1440p, the RTX 5090 gets close to 600 FPS, and the RTX 5070 remains above 260 FPS. NVIDIA also shared 1080p figures with the RTX 5090 hitting nearly 800 FPS, but it did not provide results with DLSS 5 disabled.
