NVIDIA details Vera CPU with 88 Cores and 176 Threads

NVIDIA provided new details on its custom Armv9.2 Vera CPU, positioning the chip for deployment inside NVL rackscale systems or as a standalone processor. The company says customer interest is focused on enterprise use cases, including data analysis, high-performance single-threaded tasks, agentic AI, and large-scale software operations.

Vera is described as a CPU with 88 Cores, 176 Threads, and up to 1.5 TB of LPDDR5X Memory. Its Olympus CPU core is organized around the front end, mid-core, execution engine, and cache subsystems, with design work aimed at maintaining instruction flow during demanding workloads.

The front end uses a branch predictor that works with the instruction fetching unit to keep the core supplied with useful instructions. A 10-wide decode engine is designed to feed execution units continuously, while a neural branch predictor reduces execution along incorrect paths and supports up to two taken branches per cycle.
