Meta AI comes to Mac with screen sharing and business integrations

·1 min read

Meta has launched a dedicated Meta AI app for Mac, bringing its assistant closer to everyday desktop work. The version 1.0 beta is a 16MB app for Apple silicon Macs running macOS 15 or later, with a compact composer that can be opened using Option-Space and kept hidden from the Dock.

The app supports system-wide dictation and can attach an open Mac window to a conversation. With Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions, Meta AI can read visible text and capture a screenshot of the selected window, then answer questions, suggest changes, or generate content based on that context. It cannot click buttons, edit files, or operate apps for the user.

Meta is also expanding business and creator tools across Mac, mobile, and web. Professional Facebook and Instagram accounts can connect Meta AI to account information, advertising campaigns, and Google Workspace, allowing the assistant to analyze engagement metrics, suggest posts, create documents, and schedule recurring reports.

The deeper integrations could make Meta AI useful for businesses already working across Meta platforms, but they also raise permission and privacy questions. Organizations may need to review what data the assistant can access, how long it is retained, and whether permissions can be revoked easily.
