MediaTek launches Dimensity 9600 Pro smartphone chip

MediaTek launched the Dimensity 9600 Pro, a flagship smartphone SoC positioned as the next generation of its Dimensity lineup. The chip adopts the new 2 nm process node, which MediaTek described as a significant technology milestone and said makes it the first company to announce reaching that threshold.

The Dimensity 9600 Pro is designed to combine flagship performance and power efficiency with advanced agentic AI experiences. JC Hsu, corporate senior vice president at MediaTek and general manager of the Wireless Communications Business Unit, said AI is now central to smartphones and that devices need greater performance, efficiency and intelligence to keep pace with user demands.

MediaTek said the chip uses a Native AI architecture and delivers a dual improvement in performance and power efficiency. The company framed the launch as a step toward more capable on-device AI experiences across future flagship smartphones.
