Lehigh outlines tools and governance for campus AI projects
Lehigh University provides resources for faculty, researchers, staff and students who want to build AI-powered solutions rather than use chat tools alone. Supported project types include course tutors, research assistants, workflow automations, agents and data analysis. An AI Tool Advisor helps users identify a suitable platform before beginning development.
Google Gemini tools are available to the entire Lehigh community through the university’s Google licensing. Users are directed to access these tools through their Lehigh Google Workspace accounts, which provide enhanced controls and data protection compared with free standalone versions.
Projects involving institutional information, including student records, research data or other sensitive material, should follow Lehigh’s Data Classification guidelines before connecting that information to an AI tool or platform. Applications and agents that use university systems or data, or integrate with university websites, must complete Lehigh’s agent deployment and governance process before reaching production. Users can also consult with ITS for assistance.
