Leaked FSR 4.1 INT8 model runs on RDNA 3.5 graphics
Valve has started adding AMD’s FSR Upscaler 4.1 to Proton, its compatibility layer for SteamOS. The integration is intended to bring FSR 4.1 support to the Linux-based operating system used in SteamOS builds, with early work appearing in Proton Experimental before any stable release.
AMD has been developing a separate FSR Upscaling 4.1 model for RDNA 3 by converting from the FP8 data type used on RDNA 4 GPUs to INT8 data types. The main unresolved question was whether that approach would also support RDNA 3.5 integrated graphics, beyond the already announced RDNA 3 IP support.
Valve briefly leaked the FSR 4.1 INT8 model, and it was observed running on RDNA 3.5 through a Radeon 890M GPU. A Redditor downloaded the file before it was removed and used OptiScaler to force different FSR DLL versions in games. Because the file was officially signed, games that check DLL signatures reportedly ran without issues.
