DroidDeck runs Steam and Windows games locally on Android

·1 min read

DroidDeck, an open-source app for Snapdragon-powered Android devices, can run Valve’s Steam client and Windows PC games directly on the device rather than streaming from a PC or the cloud. In testing by YouTuber ETA Prime on a RedMagic 11 Pro with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 16 GB of memory, Cyberpunk 2077 ran at around 60 FPS on medium settings.

Skyrim Special Edition delivered a similar figure at 720p, while Hogwarts Legacy proved more demanding and sat around 40 FPS even with lower settings and FSR enabled. Unlike Steam Link, which depends on another PC, DroidDeck runs as a regular Android app and loads Valve’s ARM64 Linux Steam client in Big Picture mode.

Windows games are handled through Valve’s ARM64 Proton with x86 translation. DroidDeck also avoids the need to replace Android with SteamOS or use root access, while adding support for GPU driver switching, AMD FSR and Snapdragon GSR upscaling, and frame generation through Lossless Scaling.
