Claude adds proactive agent preview and expands model lineup

·1 min read

Claude opened a research preview of Claude Duet on October 21, 2026, giving Pro and Max subscribers access to a new app where Claude operates as a proactive agent. Max and Team plans also gained monthly API credits for running custom apps and agents on the Claude Platform. Subscribers can claim the credits by linking a Claude Console organization through their billing settings.

The model lineup now includes Claude Haiku 5.5 for high-volume, cost-sensitive tasks and Claude Sonnet 5.5 as a faster, lower-cost complement to Claude Opus 5.5. Opus 5.5 performs at the level of Claude Fable 5.1 on most work and costs 40% less to run than Opus 5. A new developer portal lets developers submit plugins to the Claude directory, track reviews and view usage analytics after publication.

Claude is also bringing Cowork capabilities into ordinary conversations, with a gradual rollout to Pro and Max subscribers across web, desktop and mobile. Design, presentation and document tools are available across all plans, including Free, with beta status on Enterprise plans. Workplace additions include a Salesforce plugin in beta for approved organizations on paid plans and Enterprise smart reports that analyze usage, costs, session friction and opportunities to turn repeated workflows into shared skills.
