Cadence Acquires Arm Artisan Foundation IP Business

Cadence has finalized an agreement to acquire Arm´s Artisan foundation IP business, a strategic move that broadens its semiconductor design capabilities. The acquired portfolio includes standard cell libraries, memory compilers, and general-purpose I/Os (GPIOs) meticulously optimized for advanced process nodes at leading foundries. This expansion complements Cadence´s existing offerings in protocol and interface IP, memory interface solutions, SerDes at cutting-edge nodes, and pending embedded security IP from the Secure-IC acquisition.

With this acquisition, Cadence reinforces its commitment to accelerating customers´ system-on-chip (SoC) time to market while optimizing cost, power, and performance across the world´s foremost semiconductor manufacturing processes. The transaction is structured as an asset purchase, coupled with a technology license agreement to be finalized upon closing, ensuring continuity and access aligned with existing rights. This proactive move positions Cadence to deliver a more comprehensive IP suite for rapidly evolving technology sectors reliant on high-performance, low-power silicon.
