CachyOS plans optional kernel for EAC Linux v2
CachyOS has announced plans to support EAC Linux v2 through a dedicated linux-cachyos-eac kernel. The move follows Epic Games’ promise to expand Linux support for Easy Anti-Cheat, with new standards and native Linux security features that distribution developers must adopt to enable access to compatible games. CachyOS is among the earliest Linux distributions to explicitly announce support for those requirements.
Implementation remains unfinished, with the plans discussed on the project’s GitHub. Maintainers and developers have emphasized that the dedicated kernel will be fully optional and opt-in for the desktop environment, rather than a mandatory change. That distinction matters because some security features required for EAC Linux v2 have proved controversial within Linux gaming communities. The approach leaves users free to decide whether to adopt the kernel.
