Arm neural graphics arrive first in Xiaomi devices
Xiaomi 18 Fold is launching in mainland China with Arm’s Mali G2-Ultra NX graphics processor inside its custom Xring O3 chip, giving Arm-powered mobile devices a dedicated AI gaming graphics accelerator. Arm says the new GPU delivers an 85-percent performance increase over the graphics hardware Xiaomi previously used and a 14 percent increase over Arm’s prior flagship in non-AI gaming.
The larger shift is Arm’s neural graphics suite, which includes AI upscaling, frame generation, and ray reconstruction-style denoising similar to techniques used on PCs. Arm claims the combined features can deliver up to four times the framerate by rendering fewer pixels and frames while AI fills in the rest. Super sampling is expected in the first supported games, with frame generation planned for early 2027 and denoising to follow.
Arm says the technology will expand beyond Chinese phones to tablets, Chromebooks, and other devices next year. Bergey said a phone using the chips could play at 1080p, 60 frames per second for three hours instead of 30 minutes, while Xiaomi is showing a Pad 9 Pro Max tablet running at 3.2K resolution at 120 frames per second. Where Winds Meet, Infinity Nikki, and Arena Breakout: Infinite are the first confirmed games to support the accelerator.
