AMD brings machine learning upscaling to Xbox consoles

·1 min read

AMD’s FSR Upscaling 4.1.2 is now officially included in Microsoft’s Game Development Kit (GDK), bringing machine learning-based upscaling to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Developers can choose between a full-scale model based on the INT8 data type and a new, efficient Lite INT8 model. Both models support both consoles, allowing developers to select the option that best matches a game’s demands rather than being restricted to a particular model for each console.

For handheld devices, AMD FSR SDK 2.4 adds FSR Upscaling support for the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme and Ryzen Z2 A processors. These processors power the ROG Xbox Ally, ROG Xbox Ally X, and ROG Xbox Ally X20 handhelds. Support uses an efficient INT8 model. Because these devices run Windows, developers can integrate FSR Upscaling 4.1.2 through the standard AMD FSR SDK.
