USF opens introductory computing courses to all majors

·1 min read

University of South Florida students from any major can now register for three introductory courses through the Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Computing. The offerings aim to help students build foundational technical skills they can apply across academic disciplines and future careers.

The available courses are CAI 1000, Foundations of Artificial Intelligence; COP 2510, Programming Concepts; and CGS 1540, Introduction to Databases. None requires prerequisites, and students can register directly without requesting a course permit. Students should consult their home-college academic advisor to determine how the classes count toward degree requirements, including as general or unrestricted electives.

Access also extends to upper-level Bellini College courses for students whose academic backgrounds and completed prerequisites meet eligibility requirements. Interested students can consult a Bellini College advisor about eligibility and whether a permit is appropriate, while their home-college advisor can confirm how the coursework would apply toward their degree.
