Tech firms put AI to work inside their businesses
Major technology companies are deploying generative AI across internal operations, from sales proposals and employee support to recruitment and software development. Capgemini, Google Cloud, Salesforce, IBM, SAP and InMobi are encouraging teams to develop department-specific applications, alongside training employees to use the technology.
Google Cloud’s Asia-Pacific Pitch and Proposal Hub built RFP Accelerator using Gemini models grounded in proprietary information. The tool can complete RFP forms 50% faster, handling work that previously took 80-100 hours. Its PitchGen tool creates presentations in Google Slides using company data. Salesforce has piloted an agent that helps managers evaluate employees’ product-pitch videos and is exploring predictive workspace utilisation.
SAP uses generative AI to draft job descriptions, develop interview questions, recommend learning programmes and analyse CVs. Its Joule copilot also supports hiring-related queries. IBM reported that upwards of 80% of employee queries are managed through self-service. At InMobi, 60% of coding is done through generative coding platforms, with adoption also extending to business analysis, legal and content teams.
Capgemini applied AI to a Mojave desert conservation project, using aerial imagery to identify and track roads, tracks and trails. Its internal models combine proprietary data with models from hyperscalers and open-source platforms. Executives describe internal adoption as important both for operational competitiveness and for selling AI products with conviction.
