Modders test faster DLSS 5 model beyond NBA 2K27
Modders have extracted NVIDIA’s updated DLSS 5 Neural Rendering model from NBA 2K27 and tested it in games without official support. Released on October 16, the 310.9.16.0 DLL build was extracted by Renan Maniero and can be injected using tools such as RenoDX and OptiScaler. It retains the older model as Preset A and introduces the new model as Preset B, enabling direct comparisons.
Gaming Optimized reported that the updated model ran up to 90% faster in The Witcher 3. Performance gains vary by game, making that result a best case rather than a typical improvement. NVIDIA says the October update reduces model size by 24% to roughly 118 million parameters, lowers VRAM usage at 4K by 20%, and runs the neural rendering workload up to 2x faster than the September version. The company also claims up to 40% higher frame rates in NBA 2K27.
Official support remains limited to RTX 50-series GPUs and GeForce NOW. NVIDIA plans to support the RTX 40-series but has not announced a date, and it has provided no word on RTX 30 or RTX 20 support. Separately, the OptiScaler README describes a modified runtime that enables operation on RTX 20-series cards.
