IBM updates span AI governance, security and enterprise modernization
IBM research found that 80% of surveyed executives in EMEA said an AI-related incident reached their board or C-suite in the past year, while only 40% changed AI governance policies or frameworks in response. The findings highlight governance challenges as enterprises adopt AI agents. A separate IBM study found that most CFOs report their responsibilities have expanded into enterprise technology or AI strategy leadership.
IBM and Red Hat announced that Lightwell identified and remediated more than 400 previously unknown vulnerabilities in widely used Java libraries, addressing security gaps that AI agents could combine into attacks. IBM also introduced self-hosted deployment for IBM Bob, allowing enterprises to use AI-powered software development and modernization without moving sensitive code, data or workflows outside controlled infrastructure.
For business modernization, IBM announced IBM Ready for SAP Solutions to help midsize and fast-growing organizations accelerate cloud ERP modernization. Volumetric Building Companies cut operational cycle times by 50% with SAP Cloud ERP. IBM also announced research with Siemens to advance nanostack architecture and its selection for Stage C of DARPA’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative.
