Egypt’s AI builders push toward production scale

Egypt’s AI community gathered at the Grand Egyptian Museum for a reception focused on the country’s growing base of AI natives, developers, researchers, startups and enterprises. NVIDIA executives Paolo Guglielmini and Ahmed Mostafa discussed regional adoption and the company’s full-stack approach to AI development, while startup leaders joined a panel covering smart spaces, healthcare, cybersecurity and robotics.

Egypt’s NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute learner base grew more than tenfold in a single year, reflecting rising developer demand. The local NVIDIA Inception roster includes Aidera, Intella, Marses Robotics, Proteinea, Stakpak, Paymob and Thndr, spanning enterprise intelligence, Arabic speech, robotics, medicine development, developer operations and financial services. NVIDIA’s investor network has also expanded through A15 and M Empire, alongside events with RiseUp, Plug and Play, Flat6Labs and Algebra Ventures.

The activity is part of a wider African infrastructure buildout. Africa has roughly 18% of the world’s population but less than 1% of global data center capacity. Within a year, four AI factories have been announced or brought online, with another 656 megawatts of new capacity in the pipeline. Stratos Lab is partnering with ECOBLOX and Digital Parks Africa on an AI cloud powered by more than 50 NVIDIA HGX B300 systems and delivering over 7 exaflops of performance. In 2024, NVIDIA set a target to train 100,000 developers across Africa within three years, and has trained over 85,000 developers to date.
