Perplexity brings Portable Computer to Windows PCs with NVIDIA RTX
Perplexity has added Portable Computer to the Perplexity app for Windows on compatible NVIDIA GeForce RTX PCs and NVIDIA RTX PRO Workstations. The local version of Perplexity Computer plans and executes multistep tasks on-device, using NVIDIA GPU acceleration to analyze files, combine information and handle recurring work while keeping sensitive data on the PC.
The app pairs local and cloud AI in one workspace, with built-in tools including a browser and the proprietary SPACE sandbox. For tasks that require more advanced reasoning, Portable Computer can request permission before sending information off-device, and locally completed work does not consume Perplexity Computer credits.
Setup includes a local model such as Qwen 3.8 27B, post-trained for Perplexity Computer and optimized for NVIDIA RTX GPUs. Connectors for Microsoft Outlook, OneDrive, Word, Google Drive, Gmail, Slack and GitHub let the agent work across common productivity and developer workflows, including reviewing pull requests, analyzing financial documents and posting startup funnel insights to Slack.
Portable Computer is available for NVIDIA GeForce RTX and RTX PRO GPUs with 24GB or more of VRAM. NVIDIA DGX Station support is expected to come soon, following existing support for NVIDIA DGX Spark systems and RTX PCs running Linux.
