NVIDIA details DLSS 5 progress at SIGGRAPH 2026
NVIDIA showcased new DLSS 5 neural rendering work at SIGGRAPH 2026 in Los Angeles, highlighting continued development after an initially negative response from gamers. The updated approach gives game developers access to three DLSS 5 models, labeled Model A, Model B, and Model C, with different levels of structural intensity, global illumination, texture detail, and other visual characteristics.
Developers can tailor those models to specific scenes or character needs, mixing them based on the requirements of a game. Each model has a different parameter count, making some more demanding on compute and memory, though they generally fit and run on a single GPU without problems.
NVIDIA also emphasized stronger controls for preserving artistic intent, a key criticism of the original DLSS 5 demo. Individual objects, scenes, and game settings can be adjusted to maintain visual identity, object semantics, character poses, lighting semantics, motion, and art direction while applying material photorealism.
