SAP outlines agentic AI shift for enterprise software

·1 min read

SAP is positioning agentic AI as a transformation of SaaS rather than its replacement. Enterprise software remains essential because agents need governed applications, structured data, process context, compliance checks and audit trails to act reliably across finance, procurement, supply chain, manufacturing and other business functions.

The Autonomous Enterprise model puts AI assistants and agents at the center of execution. Joule becomes the engagement layer, assistants coordinate work for roles and agents perform multi-step tasks across SAP and third-party systems, while humans retain accountability and strategic judgment. Connected signals such as demand changes, supplier risks and capacity constraints can trigger coordinated actions across affected domains in real time.

SAP’s strategy builds on deep process and industry knowledge, semantically rich business data and enterprise-grade governance. The portfolio includes SAP Autonomous Suite, Industry AI applications and SAP Business AI Platform, which combines SAP BTP, SAP Business Data Cloud, parts of Business Transformation Management and AI Foundation. SAP also links adoption to RISE with SAP and SAP GROW, saying agent-led modernization can make the path to the cloud at least 35% more efficient.
