UK FCA urges rules for AI models in financial services

·1 min read

The UK’s FCA urged regulators to strengthen oversight of AI models used in financial services, warning that supervision must adapt as systems become more autonomous. The report set out seven recommendations, including closer monitoring of the shift toward autonomous AI and stronger system-wide checks on potential risks.

The review also called for an AI-enabled supervisory model capable of identifying cross-market risks. It found that one in five UK adults would be willing to use AI agents to make financial decisions, underscoring the need for regulators to address both market-level risks and consumer adoption as AI tools move deeper into financial services.
