Stanford brain study and climate innovators highlight tech shifts
Stanford researchers have developed mice whose brain development was genetically altered so human brain organoids could integrate into the cortex. Multiple cameras tracked one animal’s movement as researchers studied how human cells survived and functioned inside a rodent brain. The work could support brain injury research while intensifying questions about where boundaries should be set for cross-species brain experiments.
MIT Technology Review also spotlighted climate and energy honorees from its 35 Innovators Under 35 list. Digital twins of human organs are moving into clinical trials and early patient care, with virtual replicas of hearts, brains, guts, livers, nervous systems, faces, and cancers being developed to improve surgeries, drug testing, disease-risk assessment, and treatment selection.
