Semiconductor revenue hits new high as AI demand lifts memory market

·1 min read

Global semiconductor revenue reached another all-time high in 2Q26, with Omdia reporting record quarter-over-quarter growth of 31.4%. AI demand and strong memory prices remained the main forces behind the expansion, pushing first-half 2026 revenue to a new high despite corrupted dollar figures in the source data.

The 31.4% increase topped the prior sequential growth record of 29.2% in 1Q26. Since Omdia began tracking the market in 1Q02, only 10 out of 97 quarters have posted sequential revenue growth above 10%. The sector has now recorded double-digit sequential gains for four consecutive quarters beginning in 3Q25, with 3Q26 expected to continue that trend.

Memory remained the central growth driver, while other semiconductor components also expanded above seasonal patterns and contributed to the broader market strength.
