Pure DC launches leased Seinäjoki AI campus

Pure Data Centres Group has launched SJK01 in Seinäjoki, Finland, a hyperscale cloud and AI data centre campus designed for mass-scale AI and machine learning workloads. Phase 1 is already fully leased, with the substation for the first data hall constructed and live, and planning permissions and power requirements secured.

The first stage involves investment of over €1.5 billion for a 110MW AI campus. The site can scale to a +€7.5 billion, 550MW+ campus, subject to permissions and contracting, making it one of Europe’s largest planned AI infrastructure projects and the largest inward investment in Finland by a UK company.

Pure DC and local partner SDC Ventures expect the decade-long build to provide over 3,000 jobs, use local companies where possible, and improve electricity and telecommunications infrastructure. Seinäjoki officials said business rates and property tax would be reinvested locally, waste heat would support district heating, and education and reskilling initiatives would be developed with local institutions.

The full campus is set within 370 acres and is targeted to support over 550MW of IT capacity, with access to more than 700MVA of renewable power. Its repeatable 40MW AI-ready modules will use Direct Liquid Cooling and closed-loop cooling systems designed for zero water use in operation.
