Pulsant opens high-density Milton Keynes data hall

Pulsant has completed a £10 million investment in a new high-density data hall at its Milton Keynes site, SE-1, as demand rises for AI and advanced computing workloads. The 1.2MW expansion is part of the company’s national platformEDGE framework, which is designed to extend high-performance UK infrastructure beyond the London market.

The facility is built for high-density applications including AI, machine learning and accelerated workloads, with target sectors including financial services, healthcare, biotechnology, IT and gaming. Pulsant is positioning Milton Keynes as an alternative for organisations seeking UK data centre capacity outside London, citing the site’s location within the Oxford-Cambridge technology cluster.

The cluster is home to around 570,000 employees and generates approximately £135 billion in annual turnover. Pulsant says the facility offers latency of around two milliseconds to London Docklands and Slough, and connects into its network of 14 UK data centres through a 400Gb-capable network with access to more than 1,600 cloud services, network providers and business partners.

CEO Rob Coupland said regional AI-ready capacity is becoming critical as UK digital infrastructure faces increased demand. Pulsant plans to roll out its high-density model to additional UK regions as part of a broader national infrastructure strategy.
