NEO Semiconductor launches NEO.AI memory platform

·1 min read

NEO Semiconductor launched NEO.AI, a next-generation memory platform designed to address on-chip memory and HBM capacity limits in future AI systems. The company said the platform targets the two most significant memory constraints affecting AI hardware performance as models grow larger and more complex.

The launch includes X-SRAM, an on-chip memory technology positioned for AI cache, as well as the latest progress on 3D X-DRAM, a high-capacity HBM technology. NEO Semiconductor said conventional SRAM scaling has slowed as technology nodes advance, while current HBM remains limited by the scaling constraints of conventional 2D DRAM. The company described these combined constraints as the AI Memory Wall.
