Life sciences firms push into digital tools, ADCs and biocomputing
Digital capability is becoming a sharper priority in life sciences as biopharma growth increases pressure on complex supply chains. 86% of biopharma leaders are planning to invest in digital agility, reflecting expectations that more mature technology systems could improve logistics and support faster industry development.
Moderna and Merck & Co received European Medicines Agency PRIME designation for their personalised melanoma vaccine, mRNA-4157/V940, in combination with Keytruda. Tubulis also entered a strategic licence agreement with Bristol Myers Squibb to advance antibody-drug conjugates. On April 20th, the companies announced a potential deal value of over $1 billion, including an upfront payment of $22.75 million.
Biocomputing is drawing attention through organoid intelligence, a proposed biological computer powered by millions of human brain cells, while organoids are already used in biomedical research to detect drug toxicity, analyse organ development and support personalised treatment. AI remains a central ethical concern after Geoffrey Hinton left Google warning, “No one will know what’s true anymore,” even as life sciences applications include disease detection systems and AI-enabled prosthetics.
