KDDI and Telehouse acquire Docklands site for data centre expansion

·1 min read

KDDI Corporation and Telehouse have acquired the Inventory Estate at East India Dock, London, from LaSalle Investment Management and Trilogy Real Estate for more than £220 million (US$294 million). The site will support a high-density, AI-ready data centre expanding Telehouse’s London Docklands campus, with planned services including colocation and low-latency connectivity.

Telehouse has secured 65 MVA of power for the site, providing a foundation for phased development as electricity availability constrains data centre projects. The company has not disclosed how much capacity will be available for IT equipment, a construction timetable, the final building size or the total development cost. The acquisition price covers the property transaction, not the additional investment needed to build the facility.

The purchase sits alongside Telehouse West Two, a separate nine-storey building already under development at the Docklands campus and scheduled for completion in 2028. No opening date has been announced for the Inventory Estate project. Telehouse says its priorities include sustainable operations, engagement with the Tower Hamlets community and local employment opportunities, but it has not specified job numbers, energy-efficiency targets or community investment commitments.
