Intel Secure Enclave targets tactical edge computing limits
Defense and aerospace systems are under pressure as legacy architectures struggle with today’s data-intensive sensing workloads. Analog-heavy signal-processing chains that served earlier radar and sensing platforms now face limits in scalability, flexibility, and efficiency as sensor resolution rises across phased array radar and infrared imaging applications.
The shift creates growing demand for processing capacity and power in environments where resources are tightly constrained. Aircraft must divide limited power among competing subsystems, making it one of the platform’s most restricted resources, while space-based systems face even harsher constraints because power generation is limited and heat dissipation is difficult in vacuum conditions where conventional cooling is unavailable.
