Hamachi patents data masking system for advisor AI tools

·1 min read

Hamachi.ai has received a patent for a system designed to protect sensitive RIA client data before it is processed by general-purpose AI models. The platform masks information such as account statements, tax forms, trust documents, CRM records and portfolio data before an LLM sees it, an approach CEO Mike Wilson framed as necessary for wealth management workflows.

The startup was co-founded by RIA technology veterans Eric Clarke, Brian McLaughlin, Wilson and Mustapha Baassiri. Babu Sivadasan, co-founder and head of Jiffy.ai for wealth managers, said masking or translating data before sending it to LLMs is a prudent practice given unclear data boundaries, while noting Hamachi now has IP protection for its implementation.

United Planners selected Hamachi in Feb. 2026 as its first enterprise AI partner and requires its national network of hybrid advisors to route external LLM use through the platform. The patent arrives amid wider concern over AI safety, including warnings from former and current AI lab researchers about rogue systems and insufficient alignment controls.
