Geekom removes legacy driver page after malware warnings
Geekom has removed a legacy LAN driver download page after malware was found in drivers associated with its A7, A8, AE7, AX7 Pro, and AX8 Pro mini PCs. The drivers were flagged by Windows Security as a trojan that could “execute commands from an attacker,” with reports on Reddit later verified through services including VirusTotal, FileScan, and MetaDefender.
The company told VideoCardz that the affected page was not linked from the main product page but remained publicly accessible and indexed by search engines. Geekom said the problem came from “an outdated resource” that was not removed from older pages in time, apologized for the concern and inconvenience, and said it had confirmed the issue was confined to the now-removed legacy drivers.
