ESET adds tools to secure business AI agents

ESET has introduced three AI security products for organisations adopting AI agents and generative AI tools. ESET AI Agent Security is designed to inspect AI-related components across the AI supply chain, including files, downloaded elements, external services, repositories, code interactions, skills and plugins used by autonomous agents.

ESET AI Behavioural Monitoring focuses on what agents do once they are active inside a business environment, with detection and blocking for suspicious actions such as accessing inappropriate resources, running unsafe tasks or exceeding the expected scope of work. ESET AI Conversation Security examines uploaded files and metadata for sensitive content, aiming to reduce accidental data leakage and unsafe prompting while flagging responses linked to phishing or malicious and unwanted websites.

The launch reflects growing concern over shadow AI, where employees or teams use AI systems without formal governance or visibility. ESET said its research found thousands of malicious AI skills on tools such as OpenClaw that could help attackers access systems, remove data, execute malware or override user instructions.

The features will be integrated across the ESET PROTECT portfolio rather than sold as separate add-ons. ESET said the approach could help customers and resellers manage AI-related risk through an existing security management layer as businesses expand from chatbots and assistants to autonomous software agents.
