Embodied AI targets Europe’s factory automation gap

Embodied AI has launched in Lausanne with a focus on helping European manufacturers automate complex factory work as high-volume production shifts to Asia. The start-up is developing intelligent robots designed to work alongside humans in real industrial settings, targeting high-mix production, frequent changeovers and dexterous tasks that require fine motor control.

The company’s approach centers on an “Embodied AI flywheel” rather than a single general-purpose model. Its platform is designed to gather production data, train custom small AI models efficiently and maintain uptime through task-specific model orchestration. A human-in-the-loop system allows remote operator intervention when needed, while mechanically embedded safety features provide an additional layer of protection.

A first financing round led by Faber VC, with backing from Techshop Capital, Look AI Ventures, Kickfund, Plug and Play San Francisco, Excellis and Vento, will fund deployments with European OEMs, scale robot production and expand data collection and model training systems. Embodied AI is already working with major manufacturers in electronics production, logistics and automotive assembly, and has been selected as a Google DeepMind partner and Nvidia Inception programme participant.
